Boys After a blistering start to the season which saw them win seven of their first eight games, expectations were high for what many considered to be the best Harrison hoops team in recent memory. Despite the fact that they faltered somewhat down the stretch, finishing at 10-9 and bowing to Byram Hills in the postseason, this year marked yet another chapter in the resurgent program’s history.
In December, Harrison was able to snap an extended losing streak at the hands of their Garnet rivals, besting Rye in the County Center, and though they fell in a rematch, the first win marked a huge coup for Husky fans.

Abigail Benudis’ study-abroad experience began with a night she’ll never forget. The 20-year-old Mamaroneck resident was to begin her program with the Institute for the International Education of Students in Santiago, Chile on Feb. 27, but was greeted instead by an 8.8-magnitude terremoto, an earthquake that damaged more than 500,000 homes and killed more than 750 people.

They are known for their zest for living. Jane and Donald Cecil of Harrison, have been tireless in their efforts to bring educational and cultural opportunities to young people in Westchester. They have been an extraordinary force in improving the quality of life for scores of individuals and families throughout the area.

When someone calls Jane and Walt Daniels by the nicknames of “46er” or “2,000 miler,” they are simply recognizing their hiking achievements of climbing the 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks and completing the 2,175-mile Appalachian Trail, a journey that took 15 years to complete.

The Westchester Brassmen Drum & Bugle Corps are well into their 2010 season. Sponsored by the American Legion Post 559 in Harrison, they are marching into their 26th year beginning with the White Plains St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 13 beginning at 12 p.m. Included in their repertoire will be California Dreamin, The Magnificent Seven, Espana, Copacabana and Just a Gigilo.
