Harrison hosts professional women’s soccer club at morning clinic
Harrison goalkeeper Jackie Fonseca is, understandably, a huge footie fanatic. By her own admission, she follows the sport religiously, devoting much of her waking day to thinking, talking and watching soccer.
On Monday morning, Fonseca and her teammates on Harrison’s girls soccer team got a true treat as they participated in a clinic run by members of the Sky Blue professional women’s soccer club, which just happens to be one of Fonseca’s favorite teams. |

It was announced last week that the State of New York was among 19 states awarded federal monies toward education in President Obama’s initiative coined “Race to the Top.” New York actually scored second best among the applicants and stands to gain nearly $700 million. But what will this actually mean for Harrison?

We don’t need our garbagemen signing a pledge, enforcing their commitment to collect our week’s trash. Probably don’t need an activist group calling on our postmen not to illegally read our mail. We don’t need a group calling for action to do your job the way you are generally expected to do it. That is, unless you’re a New York politician.

School’s Opening: Please Drive Carefully
It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over and we are preparing for our children to go back to school. Children will be boarding buses and walking to and from school, some for the first time. Please exercise caution and patience on the roads as schools reopen this week. We will be out in force making sure that our children get to and from school safely.
